Interim Pastor: Vince Smith
Family Minister: Vacant
Worship Minister, Nick Sanders and wife, Ashley
Children: Rylan and Kailee
Family – Nick and his wife, Ashley, have lived in the McKinney area for over ten years. He is a native of Memphis, Tennessee, while Ashley was raised in Virginia. They have a son attending college and a daughter at Prosper High School. Both Nick and Ashley are "PK's," with Nick's father serving in evangelism and Ashley's the senior pastor of a Baptist church in Maryland.
Vision - Nick's greatest desire in worship is to see God's people pouring their hearts out to Him through song. "My role as a worship leader is help people recognize God for Who He really is, and when that happens, genuine worship is the only possible outcome." Along with Ashley, his "forever partner in ministry," he intends to continue to build upon the incredible foundation that exists today at Waddill Street to develop a vibrant group of fellow "lead worshippers."
Education/Experience - Nick is a graduate of Liberty University with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Natural Science and Biblical Studies. He has served in various worship leadership roles, both in lay and ministerial capacities. His musical experience is quite varied, both in secular and sacred groups, having most recently toured and recorded as lead vocalist with the Southern Gospel group, Of One Accord. Nick is a veteran of the USAF, serving during Operation Desert Storm, and he currently serves in the Texas State Guard, Army Component Command.
Fun - Nick has no difficulty in having a good time, as his interests are widely varied. Outside of family and music, Nick is a firearms enthusiast and instructor. He enjoys classic cars, is an avid hunter, and a lifelong fan of Tennessee Volunteers football.
View on Worship - God's Word directs us in John 4:24 simply to "worship in spirit and in truth." The individual experience of the worshipper may be reverent silence, or singing joyfully and loudly with their hands uplifted as a child to their Father, what matters most is that the entirety of focus is on the God we serve. No vocalist or instrumentalist should ever take an ounce of the attention away from Him. When we worship as He intends, we experience the greatest, most intimate union with our Creator and Savior possible.
